Product: i3™ Smoke Detectors for Residential Applications

System Sensor i3™ photoelectric smoke detector/sounders offer installation ease, intelligence and instant inspection in the home to help ensure continuous operation.

In 2003, fire departments responded to 388,500 home structure fires that resulted in the deaths of 3,145 people (excluding firefighters) in the United States, according to a Public-Private Fire Safety Council white paper titled Home Smoke Alarms and Other Fire Detection and Alarm Equipment.

The same research also showed that the United States residential fire death rate had declined, relative to resident population, by 59 percent since 1977. At that time, just 22 percent of homes had smoke alarms, compared to 2003, when more than 95 percent of homes had smoke alarms.

These statistics underscore the importance of having smoke detectors in the home, but more importantly, smoke detectors are in working order, as 17 percent of home fire deaths occurred in homes with smoke alarms that were not working.

i3 Smoke Detectori3 for Residential Applications

System Sensor i3 Series smoke detectors are one of the best and cost-effective ways to provide early warning when a fire begins in a home. Designed with a state-of-the-art optical sensing chamber and an advanced microprocessor that automatically adjusts its sensitivity as contaminants accumulate, i3 Series smoke detectors offer a number of intelligent features to help ensure continuous operation.

Available as 2- or 4-wire models and with or without a fixed 135 degree Fahrenheit thermal sensor, the i3 offers a plug-in design that permits pre-wiring, a maintenance protocol that visually signals when a  detector requires cleaning, drift compensation, and green and red LED status indicators that allow a quick visual that the unit is operational.

The i3 Series also includes an auxiliary 2-wire loop test/maintenance module that provides a remote visual indication when it needs cleaning and allows communication with any listed panel. To make maintenance easier, an i3 sensitivity reader provides specific sensitivity readings without the need for a physical connection to the detector or a voltmeter.
